Critical GST / HST Information for Canadian QuickBooks Customers

As a valued customer, we want to ensure you are informed of changes that affect you and your business.
In the 2007 federal budget, the Canadian government announced a 1% reduction in the GST and HST rates, effective January 1, 2008. The new GST rate will be 5% and the HST rate will be 13%.
If you track sales tax in QuickBooks, you will need to update the GST and HST sales tax rates in your company file. To help you prepare for this change, QuickBooks has created easy instructions that will take you through this process step-by-step. Note that after you change your tax rates, you’ll have to take special steps to edit transactions that take place before January 1, 2008.
