Installing the .NET Framework

Several of ServiceCEO's components require the .NET framework, including:

.NET is a Microsoft® operating system platform. If you do not have the .NET framework installed on your machine, you need to install it now. For more on .NET, visit http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/d/dot_NET.html.

Note that some operating systems install .NET as part of their default installation. To see if you are already running .NET:

  1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel. The Control Panel page appears.
  2. Double-click Administrative Tools. The Administrative Tools page appears.
  3. If one of the two lines below is displayed in the Administrative Tools page, you already are running a version of .NET. If you do not see this line, you must install .NET before you continue. See the directions below.
    1. "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Configuration" will appear if you are running .NET version 1.1.
    2. "TEXT" will appear if you are running .NET version 2.0.

If you are not running .NET, you can install it now.

  1. Double-click the dotnetfx icon. The Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Setup dialog box appears.

  1. Click Yes to begin installing the .NET package. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Recently, Microsoft released a service pack for their .NET framework. This service pack, called Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1, is designed to protect your computer against the more recent viruses making the rounds. You should also install this service pack before continuing.
